Competing to Increase Capability

On the 13th of May 2018, our Training Manager Ben and Specialist Trainer Tim flew to Charlotte NC to compete in the world-class National Tactical Medical Competition (NTMC).

Despite the name, three international teams competed in this physically and mentally challenging competition.

After months of training and an intense 45 minutes of multiple scenarios in operational conditions, Team TacMed Australia walked away with first place! To say I am proud of Ben and Tim's efforts is an understatement.

Tim has recently written an article for the Journal of Special Operations Medicine which covers the lead-up and debrief on the competition. You can read the complete article HERE.

Team TacMed couldn't have competed without the help of a number of individuals, organisations and companies. We would like to acknowledge the following:

  • Special Operations Aid & Rescue (Organisers of the comp)
  • CQU University Townsville
  • Platatac
  • Dr Jez Smith
  • Queensland Police Service Special Emergency Response Team (SERT)
  • Australian Tactical Medical Association

I'm looking forward to the 2019 comp and excited to see how SOAR is going to top this year.

Jez.
