TacMed Australia now stocks the Combat Application Tourniquet (C.A.T) – Gen 7, the latest generation of the world-renowned bleeding control device. Building on the trusted Gen 6 design, the Gen 7 introduces a new single routing buckle for faster application, reduced blood loss, and fewer windlass turns — simplifying training and real-world use with a single protocol standard.

The C-A-T is a compact, lightweight arterial tourniquet designed to fully occlude blood flow in a limb. It features a self-adhering band and friction adaptor buckle for broad size compatibility, and a durable one-handed windlass system that delivers true circumferential pressure. Once tightened, the windlass is secured with a Windlass Clip and reinforced with a Hook-and-Loop Strap, ensuring stability during patient movement.

Note: The blue colour variant is typically used for training purposes.

  • Proven Performance: Approved by the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research
  • Quick Application: One-handed design for rapid self-use or assisted deployment
  • Durable Construction: Engineered for extreme conditions and repeated field use
  • Compact Design: Lightweight, low-profile — fits easily into IFAKs and gear pouches
  • Globally Trusted: Used by military, law enforcement, and emergency responders worldwide

What is the C.A.T Tourniquet used for?

The C.A.T is used to stop life-threatening bleeding from limbs. It's a standard component in trauma kits, especially for treating arterial bleeds in emergencies.

Can the C.A.T Tourniquet be self-applied?

Yes. It's designed for effective one-handed application, making it suitable for self-care in critical situations.

Is the C.A.T Tourniquet reusable?

No. It is intended for single-use only in real-world emergencies. However, the blue version is ideal for training and repetition practice.

CAT tourniquet

Strong, sturdy, easy to apply and straight forward, hoping not to get shot or lose a limb to test out its full capability.
