TraumaSim's Evisceration Small is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic presenting a smaller-scale abdominal evisceration — a three-dimensional wound presentation that delivers the clinical recognition and management training value of the evisceration wound type in a more compact format suited to specific scenario requirements and body surface constraints.
At 14 cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm, the Evisceration Small sits between the surface-level wound prosthetics and the larger 4 cm depth evisceration variants in both physical scale and visual impact. The 2.5 cm wound depth creates a meaningful three-dimensional presentation — exposed abdominal tissue and organ detail are clearly visible and clinically communicative — while the smaller footprint and reduced depth make this variant more appropriate for scenarios where the evisceration presents as a partial or contained protrusion rather than the extensive tissue exposure of a large-scale evisceration.
That size distinction reflects a clinically meaningful difference in injury severity and presentation. Not all eviscerations present with extensive organ protrusion — a smaller penetrating wound may produce a more contained evisceration where a limited amount of tissue or organ protrudes through a tighter wound opening. Training trainees to recognise and respond correctly to evisceration across different scales of presentation — not just the most dramatic large-format version — builds more complete and transferable clinical recognition skills.
The compact square format also makes the Evisceration Small more versatile for placement across different body regions and scenario types. Applied alongside other abdominal wound prosthetics as a secondary wound site, it contributes to multi-wound casualty presentations with varied wound type and scale — creating a more clinically realistic and assessment-demanding casualty profile than a single dominant wound alone.
The core management response remains the same regardless of evisceration scale: protect exposed tissue with a moist non-adherent dressing, do not replace organs, manage for shock, prevent contamination, and escalate urgently. That response discipline is what scenario training using this prosthetic develops.
Manufactured from durable, life-like silicone with tapered edges that blend naturally onto skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. Hand painted — minor variation in appearance between units should be expected.
All TraumaSim silicone wounds are self-adhesive, washable, and reusable. Available individually and as part of TraumaSim moulage kits.
Available in 11 skin tones: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock; others are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before ordering if a specific tone is required.
- Self-Adhesive Silicone Evisceration Small
- User Guide
- Smaller-scale evisceration presentation: 14 cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm — reflects a more contained or partial evisceration profile distinct from the larger variants, building recognition across different scales of presentation.
- 2.5 cm wound depth: Clear three-dimensional evisceration detail — clinically communicative at scenario arrival distance without the extreme physical presence of the 4 cm depth variants.
- Clinically distinct from large format variants: Trains evisceration recognition and management across a smaller presentation scale — more complete clinical preparation than exposure to a single wound size.
- Compact and versatile: Square format suited to varied body surface placement and multi-wound casualty design as a secondary abdominal wound site.
- Develops consistent evisceration management response: Wound protection, shock management, contamination prevention, and surgical escalation — the same disciplined response regardless of evisceration scale.
- Self-adhesive silicone construction: Applies directly to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing without additional adhesives.
- Tapered edges: Blend naturally into the surrounding surface for seamless presentation.
- Durable and reusable: Washable silicone construction designed for repeated training use.
- 11 skin tones available: Commonly requested tones held in stock; others manufactured to order.
What injury does this simulate?
A smaller-scale abdominal evisceration — a penetrating abdominal injury where a more contained or partial amount of abdominal tissue or organ protrudes through the wound. This reflects a tighter or smaller penetrating mechanism producing a more limited evisceration than the large-format variants.
How does this differ from the Evisceration Large and Evisceration with Open Wound?
Scale and depth are the primary differences. The Evisceration Small presents at 14 cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm — a more compact, shallower profile reflecting a contained or partial evisceration. The Evisceration Large presents at 16 cm x 22 cm x 4 cm for extensive organ protrusion across a broader wound area. The Evisceration with Open Wound adds an abdominal wall disruption component at the same 4 cm depth. The Small is the appropriate choice for scenarios where a more limited evisceration presentation is clinically accurate or where a secondary abdominal wound site in a multi-wound casualty is required.
Why train evisceration recognition across different scales?
Clinical presentations vary. Not all eviscerations present with extensive organ protrusion — a smaller penetrating wound may produce a more contained presentation that is less immediately obvious than a large-scale evisceration. Trainees who have only encountered the most dramatic presentation may fail to correctly identify or prioritise a smaller evisceration under scenario conditions. Training across different presentation scales builds more complete and transferable recognition skills.
Is the management response different for a smaller evisceration?
No — the core management principles are the same regardless of evisceration scale. Protect exposed tissue with a moist non-adherent dressing, do not attempt to replace organs, manage for shock, prevent contamination, and escalate urgently for surgical care.
Is this a wearable wound or a task trainer?
Neither. This is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic — applied to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. For a wearable evisceration option, see the Evisceration Wearable.
Does it include bleeding capacity?
No. This is a static wound prosthetic. To add bleeding effects, apply Ben Nye Stage Blood and Fresh Scab around the wound margins and across the eviscerated tissue during scenario setup.
How do I apply it?
Peel and apply directly to clean, dry skin, a manikin surface, or clothing. The self-adhesive backing holds without additional adhesive. Tapered edges blend naturally into the surrounding surface.
Is it reusable?
Yes. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are washable and reusable. Clean gently after each use, allow to dry fully, and store appropriately to protect the three-dimensional tissue profile between sessions.
What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock. Other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before placing your order to confirm availability and lead times.
What are the dimensions and weight?
The prosthetic measures 14 cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm and weighs 0.2 kg.
Can I purchase this as part of a kit?
Yes. TraumaSim silicone wounds are available individually and in kit configurations. Contact TacMed Australia for details on kits that include this wound
