What injury does this simulate?
An open fracture — a fracture where the broken bone has penetrated through the overlying soft tissue and skin to become externally visible. This is a high-severity injury associated with vehicle incidents, falls from height, crush injuries, machinery trauma, blast, and direct high-force impact mechanisms.

Does this include bleeding capacity?
No. This is a static wound prosthetic. To add bleeding effects, apply Ben Nye Stage Blood and Fresh Scab around the wound site and exposed bone during scenario setup. How prominent is the exposed bone detail?
Very. This is intentional: an open fracture should be identifiable without requiring close examination, and the prosthetic reflects that clinical reality.

What body surfaces is this suited to?
The 13 cm x 17 cm format is well suited to limb placement — forearm, lower leg, upper arm, and thigh — where open fractures from the listed mechanisms are most commonly encountered. The 2 cm depth means the prosthetic has significant physical presence — ensure the placement surface is appropriate for the wound profile.

Is this a wearable wound or a task trainer?
Neither. This is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic — applied to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. It has no internal function or strapping system.

How do I apply it?
Peel and apply directly to clean, dry skin, a manikin surface, or clothing. The self-adhesive backing holds without additional adhesive. Tapered edges blend naturally into the surrounding surface. The 2 cm depth means the prosthetic has physical presence above the body surface — position accordingly for the scenario.

Is it reusable?
Yes. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are washable and reusable. Clean gently after each use — including the wound face and bone detail — allow to dry fully, and store appropriately to protect the three-dimensional bone profile between sessions.

What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark.
