What is the difference between the silicone wounds and the TraumaWear units in this kit?
The silicone wounds — rash, open laceration, small burn, and snake bite — are self-adhesive prosthetics applied to skin or manikin surfaces for static wound presentation. The TraumaWear units — Jagged Laceration Forearm with Bleeding Capacity and Open Tibial Fracture Lower Leg — are wearable wound garments that apply to a role player or manikin for more immersive, dynamic scenario delivery. The Jagged Laceration includes active bleeding capacity via syringe.
How does the bleeding capacity on the Jagged Laceration Forearm work?
An integrated bleeding tube connects to a 20 ml syringe that can be concealed on the role player. Depressing the syringe activates the bleed during the scenario, allowing trainees to manage an actively bleeding wound without instructor intervention to control the effect.
Can the moulage consumables be used to vary wound presentations between sessions?
Yes. The Ben Nye stage blood, fresh scab, grime powder, and casualty FX palette allow instructors to vary the appearance and freshness of wound presentations across training days — preventing trainees from recognising the same static setup and ensuring wound assessment remains a genuine skill exercise.
Are all components reusable?
Yes. All silicone wounds and TraumaWear products are washable and designed for repeated use. The moulage consumables are replenishable — individual Ben Nye products and TraumaSim consumables are available for separate purchase through TacMed Australia.
