TraumaSim's Fragmentation Spray 2 is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic presenting the second distinct fragmentation spray wound pattern in the TraumaSim range — a different fragment distribution, wound field arrangement, and surface detail from Spray 1 and Spray 3, completing a three-variant spray wound set that gives instructors genuine variety across blast and explosive trauma scenario design.
At 11 cm x 11 cm x 0.5 cm, the Spray 2 variant shares the compact square footprint of Spray 3 but carries the deepest wound face profile of the three spray variants — 0.5 cm depth adds pronounced three-dimensional wound detail to the distributed fragment entry pattern, creating a more visually impactful presentation that reflects a spray wound with greater fragment penetration depth. That depth distinction gives Spray 2 a distinct visual character within the range — the same distributed pattern type as the other spray variants, but with more pronounced surface relief that reads differently at scenario viewing distance and at close assessment range.
In blast scenario design, the three fragmentation spray variants serve complementary roles. Spray 1 at 8 cm x 12.5 cm covers a slightly elongated wound field. Spray 2 and Spray 3 share the square compact format at 11 cm x 11 cm but differ in depth and wound field detail. Used across multiple casualties in a mass casualty blast exercise, all three variants together create a wound presentation pool that reflects the genuine variability of fragmentation spray distribution in real blast events — different body regions, different wound field geometries, different depth profiles — without any two casualties presenting identically.
Manufactured from durable, life-like silicone with tapered edges that blend naturally onto skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. Hand painted — minor variation in appearance between units should be expected.
To complete the casualty presentation, apply Ben Nye stage blood and fresh scab across the wound field, distress clothing with blast-appropriate damage — burn marks, shredding, blast fragmentation holes — and position the casualty in an environment consistent with the blast scenario mechanism and proximity.
All TraumaSim silicone wounds are self-adhesive, washable, and reusable. Available individually and as part of TraumaSim moulage kits.
Available in 11 skin tones: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock; others are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before ordering if a specific tone is required.

- User Guide
- Second distinct fragmentation spray pattern: Different fragment distribution, wound field arrangement, and surface detail from Spray 1 and Spray 3 — completes the three-variant spray wound set.
- Deepest wound face profile in the spray range: 0.5 cm depth adds pronounced three-dimensional wound relief — more visually impactful at both scenario viewing distance and close assessment range than the shallower spray variants.
- Reflects deeper fragment penetration depth: The pronounced wound face profile reflects fragmentation spray with greater fragment energy and penetration than the shallower spray presentations.
- Compact square format: 11 cm x 11 cm — consistent with Spray 3 in footprint, allowing paired placement on the same or adjacent body surfaces.
- Self-adhesive silicone construction: Applies directly to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing without additional adhesives.
- Tapered edges: Blend naturally into the surrounding surface for seamless presentation with no visible border.
- Durable and reusable: Washable silicone construction designed for repeated training use.
- Available individually and in kits: Can be purchased standalone or as part of TraumaSim moulage kit configurations.
- 11 skin tones available: Commonly requested tones held in stock; others manufactured to order.
What injury does this simulate?
A fragmentation spray wound — the distributed, multi-point penetrating wound pattern from high-energy fragment dispersion in a blast event. Spray 2 presents the deepest wound face profile of the three spray variants, reflecting fragmentation spray with greater fragment energy and penetration depth.
How does Spray 2 differ from Spray 1 and Spray 3?
All three present distributed fragmentation spray wound patterns, but each has a distinct wound field geometry, fragment distribution arrangement, depth profile, and surface detail. Spray 1 has an elongated 8 cm x 12.5 cm format at 0.4 cm depth. Spray 2 and Spray 3 share an 11 cm x 11 cm square format, but Spray 2 has the deeper 0.5 cm wound face profile compared to Spray 3's 0.4 cm — giving it a more pronounced three-dimensional wound surface. The three variants together reflect the genuine variability of blast fragmentation wound presentation across different casualties and body regions.
Why use three spray variants rather than one?
Real blast fragmentation events produce variable wound patterns across casualties — fragment size, velocity, distribution angle, and blast proximity all affect the resulting wound field. A single repeated prosthetic produces identical wound presentations across all casualties in a mass casualty exercise, which reduces clinical realism and allows trainees to pattern-match rather than genuinely assess. Three distinct variants create a wound presentation pool that reflects real-world variability and maintains assessment integrity across multiple training sessions and exercises.
What scenarios is this suited to?
Military, tactical, and emergency response training involving blast and explosive trauma — IED incidents, vehicle-borne explosives, indirect fire, grenade proximity, industrial explosion, and any scenario where fragmentation spray injury is a realistic casualty profile.
Is this a wearable wound or a task trainer?
Neither. This is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic — applied to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. It has no internal function or strapping system.
Does it include bleeding capacity?
No. This is a static wound prosthetic. To add bleeding effects, apply Ben Nye Stage Blood and Fresh Scab across the wound field during scenario setup.
How do I apply it?
Peel and apply directly to clean, dry skin, a manikin surface, or clothing. The self-adhesive backing holds without additional adhesive. Tapered edges blend naturally into the surrounding surface.
Is it reusable?
Yes. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are washable and reusable. Clean gently after each use, allow to dry fully, and store flat to maintain the adhesive backing between sessions.
What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock. Other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before placing your order to confirm availability and lead times.
What are the dimensions and weight?
The prosthetic measures 11 cm x 11 cm x 0.5 cm and weighs 0.1 kg.
Can I purchase this as part of a kit?
Yes. TraumaSim silicone wounds are available individually and in kit configurations. Contact TacMed Australia for details on kits that include this wound.
