A small-calibre ballistic exit wound — the wound produced when a projectile exits the body. Exit wounds are typically larger and more irregular than entry wounds, with everted wound margins reflecting the outward dispersal of kinetic energy through tissue. This variant represents the smaller end of the exit wound spectrum.

What is the clinical difference between entry and exit wounds?
Entry wounds tend to be smaller, rounder, and more defined — the projectile enters tissue in a focused, relatively controlled path. Exit wounds are typically larger and more irregular, with everted or stellate margins, because the projectile's remaining kinetic energy disperses outward through tissue as it exits. Recognising that difference is a foundational wound assessment skill in tactical and pre-hospital training, and having both prosthetic types allows instructors to build scenarios that test it.

How does this differ from the Gunshot Exit Wound Large?
Size and calibre profile. The Small variant reflects lower-energy or smaller-calibre exit wounds with a more contained wound margin. The Large variant presents a larger, more extensively disrupted exit wound profile consistent with higher-energy or larger-calibre ballistics. Used together, they allow instructors to vary ballistic scenario profiles across training sessions.

Should I pair this with an entry wound prosthetic?
For complete through-and-through ballistic casualty presentations, yes. Applying a gunshot entry wound on the entry surface and this exit wound on the opposite surface creates a realistic bilateral wound pair that tests complete wound identification and assessment — not just single-wound recognition.

Is this a wearable wound or a task trainer?
Neither. This is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic — applied to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. It has no internal function or strapping system.

Does it include bleeding capacity?
No. This is a static wound prosthetic. To add bleeding effects, apply Ben Nye Stage Blood and Fresh Scab around the wound site during scenario setup.

How do I apply it?
Peel and apply directly to clean, dry skin, a manikin surface, or clothing. The self-adhesive backing holds without additional adhesive. Tapered edges blend naturally into the surrounding surface.

Is it reusable?
Yes. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are washable and reusable. Clean gently after each use, allow to dry fully, and store flat to maintain the adhesive backing between sessions.

What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark.
