This inflatable flotation system maintains the Sked® in a nearly vertical position in the water. It is self-righting and keeps the patient’s head completely out of the water, even in rough seas. The side floats and chest pad provide buoyancy sufficient to support two rescuers in the water in addition to the patient, while the lead shot–filled ballast keeps the foot end down and the head elevated.
The CO2 inflatable side float logs and the empty ballast bag (with hook and loop closure) can be filled with rocks just prior to use, allowing you to save space and carry 15 pounds less weight.

What’s the difference between the SK-600A and SK-600B?
The SK-600A includes an empty ballast bag (SK-607) to be filled onsite, saving 15 lbs in carry weight. The SK-600B uses a pre-filled 15 lb lead shot ballast (SK-601), better suited for naval use where rocks or dirt may not be available.
Does this system keep the patient’s head out of the water?
Yes, the self-righting system is designed to elevate the patient’s head above the water at all times, even in rough seas.
Is this system reusable?
Yes, all components are reusable with the exception of the CO2 cartridges, which must be replaced after deployment.
