The TraumaSim Trainer's Pack for Wound Packing 2 is the anatomically advanced step up from Pack 1 — built around the Haemostatic Clotting Trainer Rounded, which reflects the natural curvature of a human arm or thigh for more realistic wound packing technique development.
The difference between the square and rounded trainer formats is meaningful in a training context. The flat, stable surface of the HCT Square is ideal for introductory sessions where the focus is purely on technique fundamentals. The rounded anatomical profile of the HCT used in this pack introduces the positional challenge of working on a curved body surface — more representative of what trainees will encounter on an actual patient, and more demanding of correct hand positioning, packing angle, and pressure application. That additional realism translates directly into better technique transfer from the training environment to the field.
Bleeding simulation is elevated here too. Where Pack 1 uses a 50 ml syringe for controlled instructor-managed flow, this pack includes a 500 ml squeezy bottle that can be pulsed to simulate arterial blood flow — variable, pressure-responsive, and significantly higher volume. Trainees working against a pulsing arterial bleed develop a different level of speed and decisiveness than those working against a slow, steady drip. That's the training stimulus that builds genuine confidence under pressure.
The trainer is available in laceration, gunshot wound, or large packing wound configurations. Select your wound type at the time of order. Everything needed to run a full session is included — trainer, squeezy bottle, 250 ml stage blood, SimClot, five compressed gauze rolls, gloves, a plastic drop sheet, and a carry bag.
For programs requiring dual-wound complexity or tourniquet training alongside wound packing, see the Trainer's Pack for Bleeding Control range.
Available in 11 skin tones. Tone 01 Light is held in standard stock; other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before ordering if a specific tone is required.

- Anatomically rounded HCT: Reflects the natural curvature of a human arm or thigh — more representative of real patient contact than a flat surface trainer and more demanding of correct technique.
- Arterial-style bleeding simulation: 500 ml squeezy bottle can be pulsed to vary flow intensity — simulating arterial haemorrhage and rewarding correct packing with visible haemostasis.
- Three wound configurations available: Laceration, gunshot wound, or large packing wound — select at time of order based on training scenario requirements.
- Complete session-ready kit: Trainer, squeezy bottle, 250 ml stage blood, SimClot, five compressed gauze rolls, gloves, drop sheet, and carry bag all included.
- SimClot included: Allows trainees to practise the full haemostatic agent application sequence — not just mechanical packing.
- Step up from Pack 1: Higher anatomical fidelity and more demanding bleeding simulation for intermediate and advanced wound packing programs.
- Durable and reusable: Washable silicone construction designed for high-volume repeated training use.
- 11 skin tones available: Tone 01 Light held in standard stock; others manufactured to order.
What makes this kit different from Trainer's Pack for Wound Packing 1?
Two key differences: the trainer format and the bleeding system. Pack 1 uses the HCT Square — a flat, stable format ideal for introductory technique development. This pack uses the HCT Rounded — an anatomically curved profile that reflects the contour of a human limb, introducing positional challenge and more realistic hand placement demands. The bleeding system also steps up from a 50 ml syringe to a 500 ml squeezy bottle capable of pulsing arterial-style flow, increasing scenario intensity and trainee challenge. Pack 2 is the appropriate choice for intermediate and advanced wound packing programs or where higher anatomical realism is a training priority.
What wound configurations are available?
Laceration, gunshot wound, or large packing wound. Select your preferred configuration at the time of order. The large packing wound provides the deepest cavity for advanced technique practice; the laceration and gunshot wound configurations suit a broader range of scenario types. Contact TacMed Australia for guidance if needed.
How does the arterial bleeding simulation work?
The 500 ml squeezy bottle connects to the trainer and delivers blood flow to the wound cavity. Pulsing the bottle simulates arterial blood flow — variable intensity that responds to applied packing pressure. Correct technique reduces visible flow; incorrect or incomplete packing maintains the bleed. That reactive feedback is central to the training value of this system.
What is SimClot and why is it included?
TraumaSim SimClot is a simulated haemostatic agent for use with TraumaSim wound packing trainers. It allows trainees to practise the complete intervention sequence — gauze preparation, haemostatic agent application, cavity packing, and direct pressure — rather than the mechanical packing motion alone.
What simulated blood should I use?
TraumaSim recommends Ben Nye Stage Blood diluted at 1 part blood to 3 parts water. A 250 ml bottle is included with the kit.
Can this trainer be run dry?
Yes. The trainer supports dry operation for introductory sessions or where fluid management isn't practical. TraumaSim recommends wet operation with the squeezy bottle for maximum realism and feedback quality.
Is the trainer reusable?
Yes. The HCT Rounded is washable and designed for repeated high-volume use. Rinse thoroughly after each session, dry completely, and store in the included carry bag.
What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Tone 01 Light is held in standard stock. Other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before placing your order to confirm availability and lead times.
What are the dimensions and weight?
The kit measures 45 cm x 25 cm x 10 cm and weighs 6 kg.
Who is this suited to?
First aid instructors, workplace health and safety trainers, emergency response organisations, pre-hospital care educators, and healthcare training facilities delivering wound packing education at an intermediate or advanced level — particularly those moving beyond introductory technique training toward more realistic, pressure-tested skill development.
