TraumaSim's Laceration Jagged 1 is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic presenting an irregular, torn wound pattern reflecting the injury characteristics of high-energy blunt force, fragmentation, machinery contact, vehicle trauma, or similar mechanisms where tissue is torn rather than cleanly cut.

The Laceration Jagged 1 is the first of two distinct jagged laceration designs in the TraumaSim range — each with a different wound shape, margin profile, and surface detail. Used individually, it delivers a convincing high-energy laceration presentation across a broad range of scenario types. Used alongside Laceration Jagged 2, it enables multi-wound casualty presentations with visually distinct wound sites — more representative of real trauma than applying the same prosthetic twice, and more effective at keeping wound assessment a genuine clinical skill rather than a recognition exercise.

Manufactured from durable, life-like silicone with tapered edges that blend naturally onto skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing, the wound face delivers realistic tissue disruption and depth detail for an immediately credible presentation. At 11 cm x 11 cm x 0.4 cm it's compact and versatile — suitable for application across most body surfaces and a wide range of scenario contexts.

To build a complete casualty presentation, apply Ben Nye stage blood and fresh scab around the wound to simulate active or dried bleeding, distress clothing to reflect the mechanism of injury, and position the casualty in an environment consistent with the scenario. For high-energy mechanism scenarios — machinery, vehicle, blast — torn or shredded clothing and directional blood transfer patterns add the contextual detail that communicates mechanism and drives more detailed trainee assessment.

All TraumaSim silicone wounds are self-adhesive, washable, and reusable. Available individually and as part of TraumaSim moulage kits.

Available in 11 skin tones: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock; others are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before ordering if a specific tone is required.

  • Irregular torn wound margin: Reflects high-energy blunt force, fragmentation, machinery, or vehicle trauma mechanisms — distinct from sharp force or ballistic wound presentations.
  • First of two distinct jagged laceration designs: Different wound shape and margin profile from Laceration Jagged 2 — enables varied multi-wound presentations on a single casualty.
  • Self-adhesive silicone construction: Applies directly to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing without additional adhesives.
  • Tapered edges: Blend naturally into the surrounding surface for seamless presentation with no visible border.
  • Compact and versatile: 11 cm x 11 cm x 0.4 cm — applies cleanly to most body surfaces across a wide range of scenario setups.

What injury does this simulate?
An irregular, jagged laceration reflecting torn wound margins from high-energy blunt force, fragmentation, machinery contact, vehicle trauma, or similar mechanisms. The wound margin profile is distinct from a sharp force laceration and presents a different wound recognition and management scenario for trainees.

How does this differ from Laceration Jagged 2?
Both are jagged laceration prosthetics, but each has a distinct wound shape, margin pattern, and surface detail. Using both together allows instructors to present multiple wound sites on a single casualty with visible differentiation — more realistic than applying the same prosthetic twice, and more effective at maintaining wound assessment as a genuine clinical skill across multiple training sessions.

What scenarios is this suited to?
Any training scenario where high-energy laceration trauma is part of the casualty profile — vehicle incidents, machinery and industrial trauma, blast and fragmentation injury, blunt assault, and workplace accidents. It's also well suited to mass casualty exercises where varied wound presentations across multiple casualties are required.

Is this a wearable wound or a task trainer?
Neither. This is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic — applied to skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing to create a wound presentation. It has no internal function or strapping system.

Does it include bleeding capacity?
No. This is a static wound prosthetic. To add bleeding effects, apply Ben Nye Stage Blood and Fresh Scab around the wound site during scenario setup.

How do I apply it?
Peel and apply directly to clean, dry skin, a manikin surface, or clothing. The self-adhesive backing holds without additional adhesive products. Tapered edges blend naturally into the surrounding surface.

Is it reusable?
Yes. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are washable and reusable. Clean gently after each use, allow to dry fully, and store flat to maintain the adhesive backing between sessions.

What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock. Other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before placing your order to confirm availability and lead times.

What are the dimensions and weight?
The prosthetic measures 11 cm x 11 cm x 0.4 cm and weighs 0.05 kg.

Can I purchase this as part of a kit?
Yes. TraumaSim silicone wounds are available individually and in kit configurations. Contact TacMed Australia for details on kits that include this wound.
