TraumaSim's TraumaWear Severe Lacerations — Upper Leg is a wearable silicone wound garment delivering a complex, multi-laceration soft tissue injury presentation to the upper leg. Designed for rapid application on role players and manikins, it gives instructors a high-impact casualty presentation without the time and consumable overhead of traditional moulage.
Severe upper leg lacerations are a high-consequence injury pattern relevant across a wide range of trauma mechanisms — sharp force injury, machinery incidents, vehicle accidents, blast injury, workplace trauma, and assault-related presentations. What makes this presentation training-relevant isn't just the visual impact, but the clinical decisions it forces: bleeding recognition, wound assessment, pressure application sequencing, dressing selection, and patient management under stress. Multiple wounds on a single limb also introduce prioritisation — trainees can't treat everything simultaneously and have to make decisions about where to focus first.
Manufactured from durable, life-like silicone and hand painted for realistic soft tissue detail, the upper leg version uses a strap-on application with an adjustable system that accommodates a range of body sizes across both role players and manikins. A light dusting of talc powder may assist with application where relevant.
This variant does not include bleeding capacity. To add active haemorrhage simulation, see the Severe Lacerations Upper Leg with Bleeding Capacity variant. To complete the casualty presentation, pair with Ben Nye stage blood, fresh scab, and moulage makeup, and distress clothing to reflect the mechanism of injury.
All TraumaWear is washable and built for repeated use. Available individually and as part of TraumaSim moulage kits.
Note: Each unit is hand finished — minor variation in painting and appearance may occur. Manikin not included.
Available in 11 skin tones: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock; others are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before ordering if a specific tone is required.

What type of injury does this simulate?
Multiple severe lacerations to the upper leg — reflecting soft tissue injury patterns from sharp force trauma, machinery, vehicle accidents, blast, and high-energy impact mechanisms. It's a complex, multi-wound presentation rather than a single isolated injury.
Does this version include bleeding capacity?
No. This is the static wound presentation variant. For active haemorrhage simulation, the Severe Lacerations Upper Leg with Bleeding Capacity variant includes an integrated bleeding tube and syringe. Contact TacMed Australia for details.
What training objectives does this support?
Wound recognition and assessment, bleeding identification, pressure application, wound dressing selection and technique, patient management, and scenario decision-making — particularly prioritisation across multiple wound sites.
Is this a pull-on or strap-on application?
Strap-on. The adjustable strapping system accommodates a range of body sizes on both role players and training manikins. A light dusting of talc powder may assist with application where relevant.
How do I enhance the casualty presentation?
Apply Ben Nye stage blood around and across the wound sites to simulate active or dried bleeding, use fresh scab for wound ageing, and distress clothing to reflect the mechanism of injury — cuts, tears, blood transfer. Positioning the casualty in an environment consistent with the scenario mechanism adds the contextual detail that drives genuine trainee decision-making.
Is it compatible with training manikins?
Yes. The adjustable strapping system is designed for both live role players and selected training manikins. Refer to the user guide for manikin compatibility guidance.
Is it washable?
Yes. All TraumaWear is washable and designed for repeated use. Clean after each session, dry thoroughly, and store flat or rolled in a cool, dry location.
What skin tones are available?
11 tones are available: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark. Commonly requested tones are held in standard stock. Other tones are manufactured to order — contact TacMed Australia before placing your order to confirm availability and lead times.
Can I purchase this as part of a kit?
Yes. This wound is included in selected TraumaSim moulage kit configurations. Contact TacMed Australia for details on kit contents and options.
What are the packaging dimensions and weight?
Packaging dimensions are 43 cm x 24 cm x 3 cm. Weight is 0.5 kg. Note that listed dimensions refer to packaging only — product dimensions vary as each unit is hand finished.
