The SOF® Tourniquet sets the standard for prehospital tourniquets, designed for rapid one-handed or two-handed application. Its reinforced, low-stretch polyester pressure band slides easily over limbs, while the quick-release buckle allows access to confined spaces or trapped limbs.

A patented indicator wedge beneath the windlass confirms when all slack is removed, ensuring effective use. The textured, aircraft-grade aluminium windlass locks securely using the Tri-Ring Lock™ and TRAC™ (Tourniquet Retention Assistance Clip).

This high-performance tourniquet is built for reliable haemorrhage control, suitable for both tactical and civilian first aid kits.

  • 5” machined aircraft-grade aluminium windlass rod for secure twisting
  • 1.5” reinforced, low-stretch polyester strap provides reliable pressure
  • UV-resistant composite friction-lock buckle for fast application
  • Tri-Ring Lock™ and TRAC™ keep windlass securely in place
  • Low-profile design with no catch points when staged
  • One-handed application in critical situations
  • Wide band reduces pressure points and improves comfort
  • Engineered for durability in demanding environments

Is the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide suitable for civilian use?

Yes, the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide is ideal for both professional responders and civilians. It offers fast, reliable haemorrhage control in all environments.

How does the wide band design improve performance?

The wide band design reduces tissue damage and improves comfort, while also increasing pressure distribution to better control bleeding.

Is the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide reusable?

It’s intended for single-use in emergencies, but durable enough for training. Always inspect before and after use.

How do I know the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide is applied correctly?

The patented indicator wedge shows when slack is removed, helping ensure proper application and effectiveness.

Can the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide be used in confined spaces?

Yes, the compact design and detachable buckle make it effective in tight or restricted environments.

What makes the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide different?

The SOF® Tactical Tourniquet-Wide is a rugged, metal-windlass tourniquet with a quick-release buckle and 1.5-inch band, built for maximum durability and rapid application in extreme military and tactical environments.

How does the SOF® Tourniquet compare to the C.A.T® Tourniquet?

Both are leading tourniquets trusted worldwide. The SOF® features a rugged metal windlass and quick-release buckle, making it extremely durable in tactical environments. The C.A.T® is slightly lighter with a plastic windlass. Choice often comes down to preference and environment, as both are clinically proven and TCCC-recommended.

Can the SOF® Tourniquet be used on children or smaller limbs?

Yes, the SOF® Tourniquet can be applied to smaller limbs, though care must be taken to ensure proper tightening. In some cases, a paediatric-specific device may be more suitable, but many first responders carry SOF® tourniquets for both adults and children.

How long can you leave a SOF® Tourniquet on?

Tourniquets are generally safe for several hours, but they should only be used in life-threatening bleeding situations and replaced with definitive medical care as soon as possible. Always follow TCCC/ANZCOR guidelines and seek immediate medical attention.

As with most reviewers, I hope I never have to use it. Being on blood thinners and a solo shooter, I think I'd be silly not to carry one. I hope it's as easy to apply as it looks in the video.

Such an important (and smart) bit of kit to keep handy at all times, for sure! Thanks so much for the 5 stars and for trusting us with your emergency preparedness. Stay safe, Team TacMed

I used to run the CAT many moons ago, but I played with the SOF TQ Wide on the RCC. Now I have had time to play with it I was very comfortable after attending the Melb MLO. VERY HAPPY.

Highly recommend these, we use them at work and at least in training I've found them to be easy and simple to use. I've fitted it out in my hunting kit having seen some freak accidents involving sticks, antlers and hiking poles recently. Never leave home without one now.
