The Longbow Ranger Mountain Rescue Pack by Conterra is a lightweight, fast, and mid-sized pack designed specifically for rescue professionals. Great product - looks the business, and has everything I need for Search and Rescue in remote/alpine areas of Victoria. The layout of the pack is excellent, and it's capacity is actually greater than I thought - can fit a fair bit of gear in the main section. The front harness holds my helmet comfortably for working under helicopters (but will be good for ski/snowshoes over winter), freeing up internal space. There are no waistband pockets which I've come to really like, but no big drama. My only negative comment is that as it sits flush against my back it does get really warm on hot days - but on the flipside, it's the most comfortable pack I've ever worn and fits my back like a glove, feels very secure (I can even break into a run without it bouncing around). I bought the matching Omni radio holster which fits new Motorola radios used in Vic perfectly, however I don't think Tacmed sell the velcro strap that's needed to attach to the pack (any chance you can get these in?). Overall, can't really fault the bag - a significant investment, but if you're after a serious mid-size SAR pack this is the way to go.
