OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing — Pressure, Packing and Occlusive Cover in One System

The OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing is a multi-functional trauma bandage designed to control severe bleeding through direct pressure and wound packing. It combines a pressure dressing, removable packing gauze, and occlusive cover in one system.

Severe bleeding often requires more than simple compression. Some wounds need packing, sustained pressure, and protection to be managed effectively until advanced medical care arrives.

Each dressing includes a large trauma pad, 3 metres of sterile 4-ply packing gauze, a plastic occlusive sheet for burns or chest injuries, and a transparent pressure cup that focuses pressure on the wound.

OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing vs Israeli Bandage

Feature OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing Emergency Bandage (Israeli Bandage)
Primary function Pressure dressing with wound packing capability Focused wound compression
Wound packing support Yes (removable packing gauze) No
Pressure applicator Removable pressure cup Integrated pressure bar
Occlusive component Yes (built-in occlusive sheet) No
Application style Modular, multi-step Simple, fast
Best suited for Deeper wounds, extended care, trauma kits Rapid pressure application, compact kits

Both dressings are effective when used correctly. Choice often depends on wound depth, training, and whether packing capability is required.

• Wound packing gauze included — 3 metres of sterile 4-ply gauze for direct wound cavity packing
• Removable pressure cup — transparent cup focuses pressure directly on the wound; also functions as an emergency eye cup
• Occlusive sheet — built-in plastic sheet for sealing small burns or chest injuries
• Heavy-duty elastic bandage — velcro brakes allow controlled application and prevent unravelling under stress
• Modular design — components are removable and usable independently depending on wound type
• Available in 4", 6", and 4" flat-packed versions — choose based on kit space and wound coverage requirements
• Latex-free — safe for use on all patients
• Single use — sterile, individually packaged for immediate deployment

What is the OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing used for?

The OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing is used to manage severe bleeding by combining direct pressure, wound packing, and wound coverage in one system.

How is the OLAES different from an Israeli Bandage?

The Israeli Bandage focuses on rapid wound compression. The OLAES adds removable packing gauze and an occlusive layer, making it suitable for deeper or more complex wounds.

Does the OLAES dressing include packing gauze?

Yes. The OLAES includes removable packing gauze that can be used for wound packing where required.

Is the OLAES suitable for an IFAK?

Yes. It’s commonly included in IFAKs, trauma kits, and vehicle kits where advanced bleeding control may be required.

Do I need training to use the OLAES dressing?

Training is strongly recommended. While the system is intuitive, correct use of packing and pressure techniques improves effectiveness.

Can civilians use the OLAES dressing?

Yes. Civilians can use the OLAES dressing, provided they have appropriate training and follow local protocols.

Is the OLAES dressing reusable?

No. Trauma dressings are intended for single use in real-world emergencies.

How long should the OLAES dressing stay in place?

The dressing should remain in place until advanced medical care is available. Severe bleeding should always be treated as a medical emergency.

Does this replace professional medical care?

No. The OLAES dressing is an immediate response tool only. All serious injuries require urgent medical attention.
