What Is A Human Simulator

The Patient
Responds.

A human simulator is a full-body training system that reacts to the interventions your team performs — bleeding that responds to tourniquet application, airways that require correct technique, pulses that change with clinical status. Unlike task trainers that isolate individual skills, human simulators let your team run complete casualty scenarios from point of injury through to handover. We supply and support two platforms, each built for a different fidelity requirement and operational context.

Unlike task trainers that isolate individual skills, human simulators let you run complete casualty scenarios — from point of injury through to handover — in an environment that demands real decision-making under realistic pressure. Two platforms serve this role on the TacMed range, each built for a different fidelity requirement and operational context.

Why Simulate

Training That
Transfers.

Simulation builds the cognitive and procedural pathways that hold under stress. Your team doesn't just know what to do — they've already done it under pressure. That difference is the margin between effective intervention and hesitation.

01
Stress Inoculation

Repeated exposure to high-fidelity casualty scenarios conditions your team to perform under pressure. The physiological stress response is trained — not just the procedure.

02
Procedural Competency

From tourniquet application through to surgical airway and IO access — every intervention is practised on realistic anatomy, with feedback built in. Correct technique is reinforced, errors are surfaced.

03
Team Coordination

Multi-casualty scenarios build the communication and triage decision-making that can't be developed in a classroom. Teams learn to prioritise, delegate and hand over under real-time pressure.

04
Assessment & Debrief

The instructor tablet captures scenario performance in real time. Instructors control the patient, manage outcomes and drive post-scenario debrief without breaking immersion.

Human Simulator Platforms

Choose Your
Platform.

Two platforms, two distinct training capabilities, one consistent partnership. Your TacMed specialist will identify which platform — or combination — best fits your program objectives, casualty profile and operating environment.

TOMManikin®
8 Configurations — Basic · Blast · GSW · Water · Burn · CBRNE · Female (TAMikin™) · Multi

One platform, eight configurations. The TOMManikin® / TAMikin™ Series covers every wound pattern, casualty profile and operating environment — from a single-configuration build through to the Multi-TOMManikin with interchangeable legs, interchangeable skins and a full suite of wearable wound add-ons. All configurations share the same welded steel frame, NAR Simulation Instructor Tablet and core intervention capabilities — with a 5-pack of surgical airway neck skins (35 operative sites total) included for high-volume surgical airway training.

Tomm Manikin Active Bleeding
Active Bleeding

High-volume haemorrhage from multiple wound sites with remote-controlled bleeding rates. Supports proximal, junctional and abdominal tourniquet application and wound packing.

Tommanikin airway management
Airway Management

Full airway progression — NPA, OPA, supraglottic, endotracheal intubation, and surgical airway with realistic tissue dissection and active bleeding across every configuration.

IO & IV Access
IO & IV Access

Intraosseous access at sternal, humeral and tibial sites, plus antecubital peripheral IV. Variable radial and carotid pulse rates — normal, bounding and thready — all RC controlled.

Tommanikin interchangeable wounds
Interchangeable Wounds

Swap arms, legs and chest/head skins across a full range of wound patterns — GSW, blast, amputation, burn and more — without changing platforms. One frame, unlimited casualty profiles.

Simulators
Whole-Body & High-Fidelity PLUS Platforms · Modular Upper/Lower Architecture · MATTi™ Female Simulator

A comprehensive family of ruggedised, battery-operated whole-body simulators purpose-built for field training. Each platform responds autonomously to treatment — bleeding that occludes with correct tourniquet technique, airways that require proper intervention, vitals that change in real time. The modular upper/lower architecture means wound configurations, injury types and clinical complexity can be mixed and matched to match your exact training objectives. Includes the MATTi™ — a dedicated female full-body simulator for training casualty and critical care on female patients.

Autonomous response to treatment
Autonomous Response to Treatment

Simulators respond in real time to correct — and incorrect — interventions. Bleeding occludes with proper tourniquet application, vitals track blood loss, and airway status changes with intervention. Instructors monitor everything via the ruggedised RC tablet.

Modular Platform Architecture
Modular Platform Architecture

Upper and lower torsos disconnect for easier storage and transport — and the standardised connector system means any upper pairs with any lower across the TacMed Solutions range. One remote control pairs with any configuration.

field ready
Field-Ready in Any Condition

Untethered, battery-operated and built for austere environments. Waterproof enough for outdoor scenarios in any weather, and tough enough to withstand casualty evacuation drills — including being dragged by a single limb.

MATTi female simulator
MATTi™ Female Simulator

A dedicated full-body female simulator with auto-detecting modular limb configurations, MARCH algorithm training, animatronic movement, and the full sensor suite — built for programs that require female casualty training capability.

How We Work

From Requirements
To Ready.

01
Define Objectives

Tell us about your training program — casualty types, intervention priorities, operating environments and frequency of use. We'll map the capability requirements back to the right platform and configuration.

02
Configure the Platform

From a single unit through to a multi-unit fleet with mixed wound configurations — we'll help identify the right wound patterns, casualty profiles and setup for your program objectives.

03
Deliver & Onboard

New Equipment Training is available — a full-day, on-site session to ensure your instructors are operationally competent before day one.

04
Sustained Support

TacMed's after-sale support keeps your simulator investment operational — consumables, maintenance guidance, scenario development and operator training as your program scales.
