K9 Hero

Full-Body Canine Medical Trainer · DoD Co-Developed

Designed in partnership with the Department of Defense. The K9 Hero is a full-body canine medical simulator for MWD handlers, operational K9 first responders, veterinarians and vet technicians — hand-sculpted Belgian Malinois head, hydrophobic synthetic fur, 8 intervention training sites.

Platform Overview

Built For The
Handler. And
The Dog.

The K9 Hero is a full-body canine medical trainer developed in partnership with the Department of Defense — purpose-built for Military Working Dog handlers, operational K9 first responders, veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Every training site is anatomically realistic.

The head has been hand-sculpted to mimic a Belgian Malinois with a realistic airway accepting 10–12mm tubes for proper intubation and bag ventilation. Hydrophobic fur with washable leg socks ensures durability across high-repetition training environments. All TacMed Solutions products are hand-crafted in the USA.

Clinical Features

8 Intervention
Training Sites.

Every training site is anatomically realistic to replicate the look, feel and function of actual medical procedures. Designed for novice through to experienced handlers and clinicians — K9 Hero covers airway, haemorrhage control, vascular access, thoracic intervention, CPR and more.

01
Airway Management

Realistic airway with biomimetic jaw opening and tongue for proper intubation and bag ventilation. Accepts 10–12mm tubes. Chest rise and fall with correct tube placement — stomach rise indicates incorrect oesophageal placement. Mouth-to-snout resuscitation capable.

02
Haemorrhage Control

Saphenous hemostatic wound at the left hind leg with pressure-sensitive sensor — when correct pressure is applied, bleeding occludes and the RC signals success. Insufficient pressure keeps the wound bleeding. Reusable lacerated front paw (right) for suture and bandage training.

03
Thoracic Intervention

Needle decompression and thoracocentesis site — allows withdrawal of air, fluid, or both. Tracheostomy training site with multi-layered tissue for realistic surgical airway practice.

04
Vascular Access

IV training site with flash cue — cephalic IV with bleeding. Infusible tibial IO training site with reusable bone plug. Adjustable femoral pulses via remote control.

05
CPR & Resuscitation

CPR chest compressions with realistic resistance. Lifelike full anatomical skeletal motion. Bilateral femoral pulses. Approximate weight of 22.7kg for authentic patient handling training.

06
RC & Sensor System

Wireless handheld remote with up to 200 metres outdoor range (50 m indoor). Real-time telemetry for sensor feedback on the saphenous hemostatic wound — pulse rate and strength adjustable via RC; instructor signal indicates correct pressure application during haemorrhage control.

All Intervention Training Sites

Train Your
Handlers For
What Matters.

K9 Hero is the only canine medical simulator purpose-built for MWD handlers and operational K9 first responders. Our team can help you build a scenario program that covers the full range of K9 casualty presentations your handlers will face in the field.

Our in-house Paramedics and Special Operations Medics understand both the operational context and the training requirements of MWD handler programs. Start with a conversation.

No obligation. No hard sell. A conversation about your training program.

01
Define Your Program

Tell us about your K9 unit — working dog roles, casualty scenarios, operating environments and handler experience level. We'll identify which configuration fits your requirements and procurement pathway.

02
Configure & Integrate

K9 Hero works alongside your human casualty simulators and environmental platforms. We'll build a scenario library that covers your full K9 casualty profile — from single-handler training through to multi-team MWD exercises.

03
Sustained Support

Consumables, maintenance guidance, scenario development and operator training as your K9 medical program matures. TacMed's after-sale support keeps your simulator investment operational.
